Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation with support from Oxfam GB is carrying out a Restocking Programme in West Pokot, Turkana and Marakwet. Members of the community are awarded Heifers and Goats. The programme is two pronged:

Winners of the Annual Tegla Loroupe Peace Race held on the 19th November, 2006 in West Pokot, Kapenguria. This involves various categories including overall winners (Male and Women) and 10 members from each community.

On a larger grant, the Foundation with another Grant from Oxfam is identifying members of the community from West Pokot who have been affected by conflict and drought and restocking them with Heifers and Goats.

On 15th January, 2007, the Foundation awarded the top female winner of the Kapenguri Race, Lydia Yotta with 1 Heifer and 20 goats. The runners up Jackline Yota was awarded with 20 goats
Speaking after receiving their animals, the winners were full of praise for Oxfam and TLPF for coming up with such an idea. They were optimistic that the Heifers and Goats will go along way in changing the belief of the local communities that they can only restock by stealing. The beneficiaries promised to be peace ambassadors within their communities.

There was a lot of praise for reformed warriors Julius Arile and Robert Matanda who have been encouraging members of the community to take up sport as an alternative source of livelihood. Their efforts have borne fruits because many young girls and boys from the community are excelling during the Tegla Loroupe Peace Races held annually
