The objective of the Inaugural Tegla Loroupe Peace race, Southern Sudan is therefore to build bridges between the North and South Sudan as well as provide a forum for the needs assessment to form the focus of the reconstruction of infrastructure and reintegration of the millions of people displaced

Tegla Loroupe Kapenguria Peace Race 8th Edition will be held on 13/11/2010 as one of the initiatives by Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation to bring peace among warring pastrol communities.

The 7th Edition was held on 14/11/2009. The occasion was graced by United States of America Ambassador His Excellency Michael Rannerberger who was the guest of honour.Other guests were

  •     Hon Peter Lokeris Minister of State Mineral resources Uganda

  •    Hon Wilson Litole M.P. Sigor
  •    Mr. David Kimaiyo-Coordinator Kenya Focal Point On Small Arms and Light Weapons
  •    Vice Chancellor Masinde Muliro University.
  •     Representatives from TeglalaGarda Italy.

 The Peace race attracted around 3,000 people. The participants during the peace race were warriors from (Pokot, Turkana and Marakwett-Kenya, Sebei and Karamoja-Uganda and Toposa-Sudan) and elite runners.

Traditional dancers from Singwe and Kapchila energized the event with some powerful traditional dance performances.

The race categories were:-
  •    2 km children
  •    2 km Dignitaries
  •    10 km men warriors
  •    10 km women warriors
  •    10 km  elite men and women warriors
